My name is Karla Lizeth Castro, I am from Mexico and I live in Obregón, Sonora state. I am currently a Bachelor's student in Early Childhood Education at the Technological Institute of Sonora (ITSON). I am in the opportunity to do my thesis related to the Mexican Sign Language (LSM) and make use of technology as support.
Many refer to deaf people as "deaf mutes", and this is a misnomer. Just because they are hearing impaired does not mean that they have a speech disability, in fact, it bothers the deaf to be referred to in this way. The correct term would be "deaf" or hearing impaired. Sign language is not universal, and therefore, I believe that there must be a mechanism (with the use of technology) to achieve a unification between them.
I have been part of the Descubre Robótica program since 2021, I am interested and fascinated by the idea of applying STEM in education, fulfilling SDG 4.
