An experience that enriches our knowledge
We are very proud of this project, in which we focused on carrying out tasks in the most professional, simple, and efficient manner. The European Rover Challenge (ERC) celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2024, and as Costa Ricans, we are pleased to share the same pursuit of excellence in a design that will improve the user experience with our astromechs, which are facing the future challenges of space missions.
Our goal is a collaborative process to develop and showcase a product that exceeds our own expectations.
Daniela Durán and Derek Rodríguez became the first Costa Ricans to participate in an ERC, in the remote version of ERC 2023. Our 2024 delegation participated in person as observers to learn and make friends from other competitive countries. We also met again at IAC 2024 in Milan!

European Rover Challenge 2023-2027
Síwö Rover, from the Native American language Brí-Brí, means Moon, and is the name of our joint project, designed from the ground up to participate in university and young professional challenges in postgraduate studies.
Síwö Rover is preparing for its participation in the ERC 2027, a date that coincides with the IAC 2027 in Poznań, Poland.
Síwö Rover is designed to perform the tasks and challenges of planetary exploration in a simulation of Mars and the Moon, similar to those faced by a real rover.
Designed to meet the probe's search capabilities and the team's best collection techniques and precision, through a robotic arm in the most efficient manner possible, as well as maintenance tasks in component handling, switch selection, connections and parameter measurement, as well as the ability to face scientific challenges, exploration and sample collection autonomously.
